Chrome wheels

I am thinking of upgrading my 560SL to chrome wheels. Has anyone had any dealing good or bad with LA Wheel & Tire? I have talked with them and they claim to have the correct factory wheels. Just looking for anyone that has purchased wheels from them.

I'm seriously looking to buy a 560SL that has chrome wheels. I'm thinking that I might want to swap them out for the original factory wheels since I'm pretty much a purist. We might be able to do a swap depending on how I like them once I have the car.

Hi Len, At the moment I am thinking of keeping my old wheels. If I ever want to go back to original I will have them.

Performance Products has a program for exchanging your old wheels for chrome ones. Check it out, very reasonable.

I have a set of used chrome wheels for a 560SL, in EXCELLENT condition, including near-new (3,000 miles) BALANCED tires. If you are interested, call me or email me. Later, Ed.

Just as an FYI - Mercedes does not make factory chrome wheels nor do they approve of their use. They are all dealer available and installed options.

That's correct, so "upgrade" is not a term that can be used with "chrome wheels."

I think chrome plated wheels look good on certain cars but I'm not a great fan. I may be a little paranoid about what the wheels looked like BEFORE chroming. That being, were they cracked or chipped or have any curbing. I don't know if this is true, but maybe chroming will help hide any repaired damage.

I know that MB does not make chrome wheels but can you tell me why they do not approve of chrome wheels? And instead of upgrade, how about the term replace?
