I'll get flamed for this, but here was my prior MB thinking... Keep in mind, I usually say "I hated them until I drove one". At least I admit to my preconceived notions.
So, it's a couple of years ago when I still drove a Pontiac (which actually never gave me any problems - it just didn't like telephone poles). I'm driving down the street and there's a Merc wanting to merge. Most of the time, it's some pampered woman with enough makeup to supply a theater and enough chemicals in her hair to be rated as a fire hazard. She's driving along yapping on the phone and wants to get over into my lane. Now, I know enough about MB to realize that if this dumb bitch decides to pay attention to traffic, she'll likely slam on her brakes, putting me up in her ass end. Of course, if I leave enough room to avoid that possibility, 3 other people jump in there.
Other times, it's some older couple with enough money and time, that they obviously wouldn't understand that I have places to go. There's no way I'm going to let them in and go 5 under the speed limit.
Now, obviously my view has changed quite a bit. I will say, however, that the above scenarios do happen more often than I'd like to admit around here. A big part of it is that my office commute is through a residential area where most people do have disposable time and income.
