battery drain

we have a CLK 230 2001. In less than 6 weeks we have had 2 complete battery drains. On the first drain we had a new battery fitted and were told that they could find nothing causing this to happen. The new battery is now flat again!!! We have disconnected the battery and it is now on charge, however we appear to have an alarm continually going on the car, despite no battery connection. Any Ideas on how to stop this annoying alarm!!!

Assuming you want to attempt to fix this yourself, pull half the fuses, park the car for the same two day period and then see if the battery has gone dead. If not, replace half of the remaining fuses and wait another two days. I think it's clear where this is going. Eventually you'll find the fuse that powers the subsystem that's broken. It's possible that you could go through this entire exercise and not find anything because it may be the alternator or the voltage regulator - despite what the trusted wrenches said. I can't say for the 2001 year, but for the 2002 model year, US spec vehicles, there was a recall for the voltage regulator. It was a voluntary recall, so no letters were sent to owners. I know about it because while in for other service, my local dealer ran my VIN and said the voltage regulator must
