A 240D with 120 on the clock is not worth 6K. No way, no how.

Thank you all for your advice. I appreciate all opinions on this matter. Ike, where do you think the price should be on the 240? What about the 420? Is that too high too? Thanks!

The price is high for the 240D, the price is about right for the 420SEL. The 420 will fit into today's world a lot better than the 240 will. I call the 240Ds "tractors" - it's an appliance, a utility, that does a phenomenal job - but the 420 will feel more late 90s with the modern comforts you're probably used to.

If I was to chose between the 240 and 420, the 420 with 50k would be a long-shot winner. But at that point, I'd be thinking of upgrading even further to a low-mileage 1995 E320 - better driver, less age-related issues, better mpg, same reliability, same money bracket.

Dude, if you don't go for the '82 240D could you PM me details? I am up in Ft. Worth all the time, and would like to look at it. of course, I'll offer him less than half that, but I'd still like to look.
