300 TE-24 5 Speed Auto problem
Hi I have a 300 TE-24 with the five speed auto-box it's a '91 model and I understand the gearbox is quite rare - my local transmission specialist wouldn't even look at the car!
The problem happened like this - fuel line broke, took exahsut off to replace fuel line and rear brake lines, put exhaust back on, go for drive - I can get Reverse, and pulls off in second, if I put the lever in 2 it pulls off in 1st, but it will not shift up.
Now the interesting bit is I have three spares cars, 2 with 4 Speed autos - will these fit? and a two litre manual, Will the four pot gear box bolt onto the 6 cylinder 24v engine? Or is there a better answer for what I should do. I think it's worth spending some time and money on this car as it is in great condition (apart from the gearbox!)
