problems with ML 320

I purchased a new ML 320 in 2000. I haven't really had any problems with the vehicle, and I take it for maintanance to the dealer on a regular basis.

This morning, the car would not start. When I tried to start the engine, it clicked 3 times, and stopped. I tried a few more times, and at all times, I would hear the engine click - and it would start.

Any suggestions? The car is parked in a place from where it cannot be towed.

Battery most likely. If you are in the US, you can call the 800 mercedes help number in your owners manual. They will install a new battery with no labor charge. The battery itself is about $120 to $150.

Had similar thing in my E320 (same engine). Unlike older cars, you don't have the starter turning slower and slower with battery dying. Once the computer sense low voltage it will stop cranking immediately. I wish there would be some electronic indicator for low battery status, but it ain't.
