After I cleaned out the glass, I found that the paint is scratched up from where they crawled through the windows (they never opened the door) and the front seat is all screwed up from the glass cutting into the leather.

I worry now is that the insurance is going to try and pull that "normal wear" crap to get out of getting me a new seat or paint. Hopefully the comparison of the rest of the car will show that my OCD cleaning/polishing wouldn't allow scratched paint and torn leather.

I'm trying to figure out a way to hold the security company liable for my deductible. I doubt it'll happen. Fucking nightmare.

Sorry to hear about the loss and feel your pain as well. It's quite bad down here in San Diego too. Only way to prevent stuff like that is to park in the garage out of sight. Thieves suck.

As for the security guard: Inside jobs are more common than people think. They actually scout the area for potential targets then have their buddies come do the dirty work. If you really want to catch them slippin', set up a bait car as NZ Benz said. Have all your friends come over and wait.

I know I'll be called naive, but I just can't wrap my head around why people steal from others. We all bust our asses for what we have. I simply couldn't do that to another person.

You all have given me an idea though. I can get my hands on the bait car and equipment. I just need to do a bit of research to figure out the right night to set it up.

I appreciate the concern.

Yea a bait car is a good idea, I'd scrub the idea of putting plastic in it though , what you can do is get mini cameras they are a dime a dozen and they transmit wirelessly, you could hide them in the headliner of the car to get a good look at the guys, unless you want to wait all night for something that might or might not happen, also if it is an inside job then the security might tip them off to the bunch of guys with bats and metal pipes waiting behind that car over there.

As for stealing there spineless motherfuckers are simply lazy pure and simple, too lazy to work at anything in life and like the parasites they are they feed off the work of others.

Here's my not-so-logical thinking:

1. The thieves are Asian. They hit these apartments all the time, but it's always Hondas. Around here, Russians hit the BMW/Mercs, Mexicans/Blacks hit the older American cars, whites hit the Mustangs/Lexus. They never take anything except the stereo or steal the entire car. The cars are always recovered and have been stripped for parts. They don't take CDs, Money, Documents or any personal items (sunglasses, gloves, etc).

2. There's 2 of them at most. The board that I had the amps mounted to was so big, it wouldn't fit in anything except a hatchback or a truck/van. Considering that they're obviously into Honda, I'm guessing it's some sort of Civic hatchback (the sub box was also very large), which would only seat 2 people.

3. They always break in the exact same way. They pry the window open and use something to get the door open through the crack. When my wife's car was hit, there was scratches in the exact same places as where my trim was scratched and where the glass was obviously broken at (above pic).

By talking to the maintenance guy today, he said they're getting more frequent, hitting more cars at once and obviously getting more bold in their moves. I've got the nicest car in the apt complex so I think they looked, noticed the Eclipse head unit and just assumed there was more in the trunk.

I can't help but wonder about our supposed security here. I'm going to get a hold of them on Monday and have them check their records. I want to see if it's the same person on patrol all the nights the complex has been hit. I know it sounds like a conspiracy, but how does a security company miss several cars in one night, on several occasions? I'm wondering if it's just some $7.00 an hour security guy looking the other way while his buddies hit the place up. Really, the way I installed the system, it would have taken them at least 30 minutes to get everything. They normally pull all the plugs. I could tell by damage that they were getting desperate with mine. I just don't see how security could miss 4 cars being broken into and one stolen.

Of course, the cops only take a report for "statistical reasons".
1 stereo will fit any car so why will the asian only hit honda/japs?
2 the car can be a estate/truck/van since they hit a few cars they will need a bigger car then a civic?
3 that is a very well known way of breaking a window with the least noise and every thiefs know it, and screw driver in lock is another?
didnt your alarm go off ? why didnt the sercuity hear it? why didnt they inform you if they heard it instead of your neighbor?
thiefs will not normally steal from their own area as thats not the in thing to do and will hit the surrounding areas so moving to a good area is a bad idea if you have crap area near you!
chill out have a few beer and get over it, revenge etc is not going to get your stereo back as its most probably being sold right now! bait car is it really worth you and a few m8s to sit around for upto 8 hours waiting for something that might not happen that night?? remenber you nove to your new house for 6 months before you were 'hit'! are you and your m8 willing to sit for 8 hours a night upto 6 month to catch a thief? what will you do if you catch them beat then up? it might not be that gang that done your car! the thief will want revenge and do more damage to your car, its just not worth it, just drink a few beer and ready to fight for every penny with insurance people instead ,
just hope the insurance will cover everything and put another 'loud' alarm on it at least it will warn you better

I'm sorry to see what some scumbags have done to your car.

The same thing happened to me 5yrs ago. They took my top of the range Pioneer headunit and 2x12stack CD cartridges with 24 CD's, binoculars, a coin holder with less than $5 in coins and my perscription glasses.

The glasses were probably tossed in a bin as they have almost no value to a smack freak.

Assholes!

The car was only left for 1 hr and they broke a window to get in. I drove around for an hour trying to find them to give them a hiding. Then over the next 2 weeks I went around the local pawnbrokers looking for the stuff.

No luck unfortunately.

I like to think that the crap life, that the drugged up smack freak is living, is so bad, with the cravings and desperation, they live their own private HELL everyday.

And they deserve it!

They're probably already dead from an OD.

With 250,000 more people born everyday than dying, the world can do without some scumbags...
