Please explain How to Test the Alternator and Battery in a 230E car.

If you can remove them, Advanced Auto/ Autozone can test them for you. If not, You will need a multimeter. If the battery has been charged up, the voltage should be slightly above 12V. I am assuming you have a 12 V battery. I am not familiar with your exact model. Anyway, check the voltage with the car not running. Voltage should be around 12 V. Start car, check voltage. Voltage should be 14V to 15V. If it is not, you likely have an alternator problem. If it is the alternator, find a local starter alternator shop to rebuild it. Much cheaper than getting a new or reconditioned unit. Where are you located?
