Help with Lamps

on My 02 e-430 I have a malfunction warning. It states that my lamps are defective. I checked them out and the headlights work fine, but when I lock my car, the lights do not flash nor do they stay on. My interiors do not come on either. I have check the fuses and they all are ok.. Please somebody let me know if this has happend to anybody else and what you did to rectify it..

Considering the lights defective indicator, did you also check the rear license place lamps? All must be OK. Could also be a bad contact, specifically on the rear lamps. Try brakes and turn signals also. Sometimes a bulb is just about to blow, often the glass is already dark, this may cause out-of-spec current consumption and fires the error indication. All lamps have to be accurately to the spec.

I don't understand what you mean by lights flashing when locking the car. Turn signals should flash when you lock/unlock the car. You can set from your instrument cluster the locator light feature as well as the night security feature (delayed switch off) but these do not sound like flashing lights that you are after.

The interior lights can be switched off from the control panel, are you sure they are on (a few suggestions for dummies, sorry for this but when you did not specifically mention the exact actions you've taken care of...)

Did you check "all" the fuses. See you user guide for the location of all fuses if necessary.

When does the error message appear, always, as soon as you turn your lights on or when you first step on the brake pedal?
