C240 questions

My service b warning came on just days after buying the car from carmax. Carmax said they did the required things for the service but didn't know how to reset the warning light. The dealer will not do it without doing the service. I don't want to pay $700 for maintenance that was done 2 months ago. Does anyone know how to reset the warning. Also what are some options to up the horsepower that is fairly inexpensive?

Did carmax give you a break down of what was performed in regards of service?

REAL HP increases are not cheap. For inexpensive (MBZ standards) you can do an ECU reprogram that will give you a few extra ponies. cost: market is around 1200 to 2000

Happy Benzing!!!

What Carmax considers to be maintenance may differ from what a Mercedes Benz dealer would do. For example; on an oil change, does Carmax use Mobil1 and a fleece filter, or do they go with whatever oil is on sale and a Fram filter? That is probably why the dealer won't reset the service indicator. They have no idea what was done. I personally would change the oil just to make sure the crankcase is full of Mobil1. Of course, I'd probably change the brake fluid, coolant, engine air filter, and the cabin filter too.

This is how my owner's manual says to reset the FSS counter:
