OMG, RAB? I spent 8 years looking for a good MB dealer, when I lived in the city, with a Mercedes, from 1996-2004, and I can tell you, I never really found one.
European Motors in SF was the worst of them all though, I'd definately avoid them at any cost, and both the Clay and Flosom locations. OK for parts though
I found RAB to be the best of a generally bad lot, though they were expensive, and I had problems with car being scratched, skeepskin seat covers covered with grease, when returned from service there, and attempts to get repairs done that weren't need. This was for a car out of warranty thouogh.
However, at the time David Santy was my service writer, and he was committed to the enthusiast owners, and organized many MB events through for the club MBNA. he really went to bat for me sometimes and helped me out.
If you belong to the Mercedes club, RAB will give you a 10% discount, I believe.
But you have to ask for it and prove you are a member.
So, if I was in your shoes, I'd guess I would still go to RAB, my last visit was 2 years ago to them, it cost PLENTY, but everything was done that I asked.
Pete's Independent I used fairly regularly, but they were just as expensive as a dealer.
Right before I left I had one very good visit to Sal's (San Jose Avenue, SF) and it was fine, but I don't know how well they would be with a newish car like yours.
It's tough to own a Mercedes in SF, and even tougher to find a good place for servicing one.
Good luck in the hunt.
