Exclamation Transmission Stuck in Park!!!!!!

PLEASE HELP! I'm stranded at a buddy's houe! I recently purchased a 2001 E320 4 matic and the "check Engine Light" is on, car starts fine but I cannot put the car in gear without the manual override option. I spilled liquid on the gear selector last night and I believe I may have shorted something out. Has anyone experienced this problem? Any help would be great. Feel free to call Troy ASAP at 303-437-0033

Thanks!

There are a lot of posts and threads here that have dealt w/ this. Do a search. As I recall, however, this is something your dealer will have to fix and it will be a bit expensive... Good luck.

Might want to try 1-800-FOR-MERCEDES for their World Class roadside service.

Are you parked on a slope is so have someone push on the car in a rocking motion a couple of times.

Had my tranny stuck in park a few days ago. It finally let go after numerous attempts.
You might want to check the brake switch and battery voltage. Are any warning lights illuminated on the dash? The spilled liquid might have shorted something. Check all fuses and if you can remove the console, check for any damage.

My boy has the same car....he left his sunroof open in a rain storm and his car was stuck in park. He waited a day for it to dry out and it has worked fine ever since.

I had bad recalls from calling 800 FOR MERC. They don't even carry OBD scanners and sounds like qualifications are even less.
What kind of liquid did you spill? Clear vodka will evaporate without a trace. Clean water might take a day, or 2. Soda and Amaretto will screw you.
How manual override works? Do you have Triptonic?

I've read here that removing the shift knob and giving the top of the stick a sharp rap with a rubber mallet is how dealers unstick them temporarily.
