MB vehicles are indestructible..let me tell ya!

My poor benz has been through thick & thin with me. I keep really good care of it...I wash it ALL the time, keep up with the maintanence as well as I can, etc..but I have to say that it's merely indestructible when it comes to minor "dings". Awhile back I was backing out of my parents' driveway in rush to meet up with my friends, not watching the stone wall they have on the side, I clipped the bumper, ripping it right off, leaving it hanging by a thread. I started BALLING, cursing at my parents-yah like it was their fault I ran into the wall, but the "decorative" stone wall doesn't have to be there Anyway, I was able to push it back in place, although it was still not right. Luckily I was able to drive it to my dealer, without it falling off on the highway, and the guy that I always have help me, took a tool, and just snapped it back in place, just like new! It took like 10 minutes and I was off, no money out of pocket to fix or anything
This other time, I was at a party and this guy ran up to my car, excited to see me & all my friends, leaned up against my ornament (he was drunk). But I was about ready to SCREAM at him, well I did actually, in a nice way, but OH MY GAWD I thought for sure he snapped off my benz ornament, even though I knew it was on a "bounce back" cord, I still thought he ruined it. But NOPE

Then just yesterday I was at the gas station and while I was backing up I didn't see this RED pole in the way, and I snapped my driver's side mirror all the way back-the opposite way it faces, like so far it should've snapped right off. So I was surprised it was still in tacked. All I had to do is use my automatic controls to place it back, and wah lah, fixed! Although I had to rub off the red paint, that was it, all back to new!

So I must say, MB must make the cars "fool" proof for people like me

Has anybody else had a similar situation?

If you like your Benz so much, why are you considering another manufacturer again?

92% of all people suck at math. I am a part of the 9% who don't.

Current Cars:
2008 ML320 CDI 4MATIC (W164) - Silver/Black
2008 C230 4MATIC (W204) - White/Black

The front bumper being held on with clips always gave me pause.

I knew it was common with Japanese cars, and was never interested in them because of that

I wa shopping new cars in 1996 and had decided it might be very well a brand new Volvo 960, I was even pretty much decided on the color it would be

Then I happened to chance on the body shop attached to the sales showroom, and they had a new 960 that had been tapped lightly on the front, and the entire bumper was dragging on the ground, I didn't like that at all.

I reluctantly drew a line through the Volvo 960, at that point and narrowed it to a Lincoln Towncar or a 5 year old big S class Mercedes. Finally got the Mercedes.
Still driving it after 10 years.

I am happy it worked out with you with your baby Benz, but if it's true, I guess I'd have to cross it off the list of possible cars for me in the future.

Too bad, as I really like the idea of the 1996 through 2997 C class. They are great looking little cars, and supposed to be real safe with a rigid passenger cell.

<sigh>

Well thank you for telling me about this. It helped me, I wouldn't want to buy the car then find it out later.

Luck has been with you so far in your minor hits.

I hope you find a suitably SAFE and sturdy car to replace the one you have.

Good luck, Jim B

No, I can't say I have. I don't usually go to tacked though.
