When we bought our CPO warranty, there were 12 and 24 month extentions and 2 levels of pricing depending on the car class. I can't remember exactly, but the S, SLK, SL, and AMG were all in the higher priced tier (makes sense) but I could only purchase it at the same time I was buying the car and they wouldn't budge on the price. I don't know how flexible they are but the flyer stated the same regarding the purchase opportunity.

Starmark warranties have been gone for about a year now and they were applied to used cars, not new. The term Starmark no longer exists. The extended warranty is now loosely referred to as the "Mercedes-Benz Warranty" and whether MB or MBUSA backs it up is unknown to me. What I do know is that a car that is beyond six years or 70K miles cannot be covered by this warranty.

When my '01 C320 was coming up on it's first anniversary, I purchased the MB warranty for $2300 which takes the FACTORY warranty to eight years or 100K miles. My dealer told me that this warranty must be purchased in the car's first year of ownership.

It has paid for several repairs and I have two little problems right now that it will cover.

Gee, I just checked my paperwork and you are correct. It is now called "The Mercedes-Benz Certicied Pre-owned Extended Limited Warranty Program". I suppose I never looked that closely at it. The 3 classifications of rate tiers are as follows: 1: C & SLK 2: CLS, R, CLK, E & M class and 3: S, SL, CL, G, AMG, and V-12 models.
