iPod Controls & Hiss

I have a c230 with the factory iPod kit installed. With CDs the up arrow on the steering wheel goes to the next track the down arrow goes to the previous. When using the iPod it does the reverse - down arrow goes to next, up arrow goes to previous. Is this a fluke in the software/setup or the way it works for everyone? I find it odd that the up arrow doesn't do the same for CDs and the iPod.

While on the subject - I also have a hiss in the iPod audio that is annoying me to no end. I've tried several iPods (friends, family, etc) all do the same thing so it's not the iPod itself. Songs start out crystal clear and then about 3-5 seconds in you hear the hiss start. It's not typical alternator engine whine - it almost sounds like a tape playing with Dolby noise reduction on.

Again- faulty setup or does everyone have this issue?

Mine also uses the down arrow for the next track, so I suppose that's standard.

There is no hiss on mine, playing through an Audio20. Sound volume is considerably lower than on radio/cd (seems to be a common complaint), but the quality is excellent. I think you should get yours checked.

As far as the hiss goes, try adjusting the volume of the iPod down. Sometimes when a signal is being amplified twice (iPod and then stereo) hiss can show up.

AJ - thanks for the suggestion but the iPod connects to the doc/line out so the volume controls don't effect anything. I'm wondering if the signal coming out of the lineout is just to "hot" for the aux input?
