Question Intermittant death

I have an 88 420 SEL that is cosmetically a 9.5 on a scale of 10. (140,000 miles) When it has been running for about 45 minutes it will die. After it sits, it will restart and behave. When it starts to act up, you can keep it running if are careful to barely give it any gas. When the car is running, it runs great. The hydrocarbons seem a bit high at idle, (canary-test).
I have done the following:

R & R and clean fuel tank
New pumps and filter
clean injectors
check fuel pressures
Check temp sensors
check TPS
replace O2 sensor
Replace ignition amplifier
replace fuel pump relay

Any direction is greatly appreciated. Richard Crump is offline

I had a friend that had a W126 1991 300SE doing the same thing. It was the EHA valve but a temporary solution was to put the air conditioner selector switch on Economy.

You may want to post this in the W126 section for more input.

Instructions to test this relay are in the DIY sticky in the w126 forum.
