Thanks Kirill, that's good logical advice. I should have phrased my question differently...
Since MB has apparently re-thought their position, via this TSB, on changing the fluid at earlier intervals, did the TSB also mention what specific fluid they're now saying to replace it with?
I suspect you'll gather that I'm a bit skeptical about the quality/validity of information coming out of my local dealer. Had to do with a harmonic balancer issue in a story too long to tell. Thanks again!
Never mind, I found this in AllData....I can only assume it's still valid unless there's a more current TSB floating around that they don't list-
The Transmission Type 722.6 is filled with a newly developed special transmission fluid and is considered to be "filled for life". No other fluid is authorized to be installed in this transmission, This fluid is not to be used in any other transmission
