Hi Geezer1,

I did not realize we could pay for maintenance up front. Would you please share the details with us?

Thanks,

MM

Yeah, I think we all decided MBUSA was full of it back then.

Hi, MM. I'm not sure when they started that but lots of companies do that now. My SO bought a Ford Edge and prepaid for a maintenance plan that makes it like a Beemer for her, she can't spend a dime on anything but gas and insurance.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Thanks Greg,

It's been over a year since I asked Geezer1 that, so I think we can assume he isn't going to answer.

DO YOU BELIEVE this thread has come back to life??

Well, I'm not subscribed to this thread, so when I happen to notice I check in on it. I knew it was old but still wanted to answer it.

I do believe this thread will be resurrected from time to time for a few more years. It's still valid information, though nowhere near as timely as it once was, since by now most people know they should change the fluid -- one way "the other".

I'm just glad no one ever posts in my old HB sticky, all of those apparently have now been resolved.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

Mine (1999 E320) is slipping at 187k, no real stress was ever put on the car. I've been driving the car since new and drive it as normal as any Angelino might drive a car on the 405, 110, 91, 15, 10 etc.

Non serviceable transmission may be pie in the sky. I will service it and let you guys know.

Question E320CDI tranny -- no kickdown?

As I have stated in other posts, I have upgraded to an '05CDI as my E300Turbodiesel was totalled (rearended). Great car but twice in the last two weeks, I noticed the car didn't downshift as I stepped on the accelerator pedal. I can downshift with the shifter but the kickdown via the pedal doesn't work. After shutdown for ten to fifeteen minutes, the tranny responded as normal -- with appropriate downshifts. What gives?

Is this the accelerator sensor which I have read about? Is there a diagnostic to check this out? Help, I'm on my own with no warrantee but am not afraid to tackle most jobs.

Also, with 86K, is the transmission fluid flush a good thing -- seems like it should only help out the trans life. Does MB do the B&B type flush? Thanks, guys. Rick

Okay, so I've read all the preceding pages going back to 06. Some bunch -- I love ya all! Good discussion and has helped me -- after being scared off by dealer on the tranny flush. I'm going for it -- not sure why the service writer had to tell me about the customer with the failed tranny after the flush. For 299 in St. Petersburg, Fl, the B&G style flush will include the filter. Rick

Rick, for $299, I hope they're throwing in a hooker-

These look like Dealer rates and when I had mine done it was half of what you've been quoted for the identical service. MB has alot of markup in the gold plated transmission fluid they use, which my Indy sells for alot less. It's up to you of course, but you may want to use the B&G Service Finder at...

BG Findashop - Transmission Service

and call one you trust nearby or drop in for a quote. I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.
