I am glad you help out here Diesel Benz, and glad you enjoy this little "club".

I do not know how many cars Daimler sells in the USA, or even in relative terms, compared to Europe. Could it be that there are more cars here, and therefore more owners with problems?

And by the way, here is Musikmann flagellating Diesel Benz for straying off-topic:

Both unit sales and market share are down for the car division. The opposite is true on the truck side. Truck sales are up over 67% for the year, with market share increasing from 0.5 to 0.8. Total units (cars & trucks) increased 10.6% and the total market share went from 1.3 to 1.5. It was a good year. Next year's new C may drive sales even higher.

From what I see here, it looks like a vast majority of the truck sales are in other parts of the world. I think I can count on one hand the number of MB trucks I've seen on the road. Of course, West Virginia is slightly "off the beaten path".

I think your supposition about the new C is right on the mark (just like the spike we see corresponding to the S when the W221 was released). I was not surprised to see them as the top selling class, but the E is close (60,000 vs. 50,000 for 2005), and then nearly equal for 2006. The C suffered more than any other class other than the CLS (-17.3% vs -27.4%). I'm ignoring the SLR's -29.5% for the moment - their total numbers are insignificant, in comparative terms.

Thanks.

Unhappy Blackstone Labs analysis

Hello friends,

Here are the results after my car used MB ATF for 59,000 miles. Any comments, positive or negative are certainly welcomed (insulting my skin color, family, ethnic heritage, use of the english language, or my choice of vehicles is respectfully forbidden).

My many thanks to a good friend, and a frequent contributor here, for editing my personal information from this report.

I sincerely hope that these results convince all of you that the M-B myth of lifetime transmission fluid is just that, a "vicious" rumor.

Cheers,

MM

Hey, you removed your name, address, and other personal info! It was there earlier. How are we supposed to know where to send the anonymous gifts?

Good one Marcus!

I thought about asking that you guys (not forgetting about YOU debbibaron) please send me your used Penthouse magazines to re-pay me, but I finally decided that my name in lights on benzworld.org, and reserving a place in front of the masses that are standing before St. Peter at the gates of Heaven, was reimbursement enough.

ROTFLMAO,

MM

Smile Follow-up: I just spoke to Blackstone

Hello again friends,

I called Blackstone, and reached someone with whom to discuss my report.

The only part that alarmed him was the level of insolubles, and he explained that my 0.2% means that the filter had exceeded its capacity to trap them. Therefore, they have been abrading the inner surfaces of the system. Hopefully now that I have a new filter, it is catching/holding these tiny floating pieces of metal.

He was not concerned with the elevated metals, per se, saying that those numbers were predictable for 59,000 mile ATF. He further stated that 34,000 miles is the appropriate time for us to change fluid and filter in our MBs.

When I told him that my service was only a half-replacement, he was surprised to hear that. However, he thinks I am now set for another 30,000 miles, and said I should do this again at 90,000.

We chatted a bit more, and I asked about the engine oil. In his opinion, we should use 10,000 mile intervals for that.

Hope this helps,

MM

Did he have anything to say about MB's original recommended 100k interval or their new 50k recommendation?

Don't believe everything you think
