Great question - I have to select two

617 diesel - for it's incredible longevity and reliability

M119 - for It's power and smoothness - and pretty darn good reliability.

FYI -Yes I am sort of partial. I had a 300SD, and now have a 1994 E420

any one who wants to go on the longevity race i'm in. catalogue all maintenance costs, oil changes, timing chains and what not. get back to me in 300k and we will determine the winner.

You guys forgot that the M110 was one of the best engines Mercedes ever built
