Biggest mistake you can make is take it to a nonMercedes mechanic, who will indeed want to replace them instead of the accumulators ($100) which will be the problem.
If one strut leaks, NEVER EVER replace both just because.
If you want a car for which you can buy shocks at Pep Boys for $39, get a Ford.
