Precaution actions for belt change
I just got ML 430/2001 model and have been very pleased with my car so far.
I would be happy to hear some tips on how to change multi rib belt to my car, when needed. Once I did change it to my BMW 3 series almost on the road and I was then well prepared and did the job in 10mins as I had correct tools and spare belt with me. I already bought a spare belt to my ML and tried to study how am I gonna make the change if it brakes somewhere in the alps in the middle of the night.
There is a spring loaded tensioner like in BMW engines, but I cannot find any bolt next to it to release the tension of the belt. There is a MB own bolt just in the middle of this tensioner and an 8mm wrench was ok for it. But using some high torque with a very small tool is quite painfull. Maybe I could take some extension like 3 feet long water pipe. Anyhow all the hints will be highly appreciated.
There are 16 spark plugs, but only one multi rib belt. Usually they do not brake in one nano- second as they are made like a sandwich, but never say never again.
In addition, could somebody have info on how to reset FSS maintenance computer.
