Cool Cheap gauges

If you're talking about the "pocket-clip" style with the sliding bar, I'm sure you are correct. Also the "less than $5 Walmart specials" whether analog or digital, would probably fit right into your categorization of cheaper/inaccurate too.

Thumbs up ANSI grades

Thanks Marcus!

Your technical explanations are always helpful.

Incidentally, I did not mean to insult any of the GetAGauge products, or the G. H. Meiser-made Accugages. I just wanted German, and I paid a small premium to get one

I might check to see what ANSI ratings, if any, are available on the MotoMeter model I ordered.

Interesting point. I'll have a look around to see if anyone locally can do this for me.

For what this is worth, I just don't trust digital gauges. As what might be a trivial example, I used to sell blood pressure cuffs aka sphygmomanomters. The best selling, and most highly thought of, were the analog types. My understanding at the time, was that their accuracy was the reason.

Some doctors still didn't even trust the dial types, and insisted on using the mercury column style, which still are big sellers. W. A. Baum invented those about 100 years ago, and named them Baumanometers.

I didn't think you were insulting them. It has been brought to my attention that "occasionally" (like every time I write anything) my long winded replies last longer than the average reader's attention span. I add bold print for those who want to get in and out quickly.

As a side note; those who are at work may wish to close their office door when reading one of my posts. Upper management may walk by and notice your head on the keyboard. Snorers should take additional precautions.

I really didn't think you felt that way either Marcus, but thought I might as well CMA, just in case

I'm also not an american manufacturer hater, but people might have thought that, if I hadn't added this bit of clarification.

BTW, I have a very similar gauge to that one on the right of your posted picture, but it has a Brookstone label on it (no bleeder valve though). It's pretty handy to use, but that Accugauge with the hose is probably superior. My particular Brookstone is no longer in their online catalog, and also had belonged to my father.

Brookstone also offers, for only $12.50, a small gauge (similar in size to the Drager) w/bleeder valve that I also ordered. I've used it, and it seems to work well.
