Why does my MB attract flies?

I have noticed that my 2004 Brilliant Silver CLK 240 gets covered in flies when it is sitting on my drive. Checking out my neighbours cars this doesn't happen to them.

Today I saw another parked CLK in Brilliant Silver in my town - and it was also covered in flies! So what gives here?

Is there something about this paint that attracts them?

My white 107 is also a bug magnet, whether the car is moving or not. I think it may have to do with the warmth of the engine and a cool evening.

'Cause the CLK looks like $h*+,lol.
I get odd looking insects that sit on the car right after I wash her, drive me nuts.

I noticed the same thing the other day on my silver W202, particularly when I have just parked it in the driveway. In my case it isn't really flies but little midges that land all over the bonnet. I haven't washed it since I bought it a month ago, I just assumed it was the heat they were attracted to.

Come to think of it I have seen more than a few flies landing on my 190E in the past as well. I doubt it's a Merc-specific thing.

You're not the only one:

Goes to show insects have good taste (birds too, actually)
