I worked in Czech Republic in the 1990s, and they told me that they used to drive on the left until invaded by Hitler and they were forced to change to the right. Pre-war Skodas are all LHD.

Often wondered how this works in Hong Kong which is still RHD, but is now part of China, which is LHD. Anyone know if there are plans to change the driving rules cars in HK?

The French love to oppose the British, and the Americans were assisted by the French in their War of Independence. Now they hate the French. Go figure.

This article sorts out who drives on what side. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Driving..._left_or_right
doesnt everyone hate the French because they think they're better then everyone?

i think to change a city/country from rhd to lhd would be a difficult task, very costly both in dollars and lifes, better just leave it as it is...

I drove LHD cars in Pakistan and India, travelling on the old Hippie route/ Silk road. It's a bit tricky to overtake a bus or truck. I can remember when Sweden switched to LHD. See also: Driving on the left or right

Stockholm on "Dagen H"Sweden had left-hand traffic (Vänstertrafik in Swedish) from approximately 1736 and continued to do so well into the 20th century. Despite this virtually all cars in Sweden were actually left-hand drive and the neighbouring Nordic countries already drove on the right, leading to some confusion at border crossings. The Swedish voters rejected a change to driving on the right in a referendum held in 1955.

Nevertheless, in 1963 the Riksdag passed legislation ordering the switch to right-hand traffic. The changeover took place on a Sunday morning at 5am on September 3, 1967, which was known in Swedish as Dagen H (H-Day), the 'H' being for Högertrafik or right-hand traffic.

Since Swedish cars were left-hand drive, experts had suggested that changing to driving on the right would reduce accidents, because drivers would have a better view of the road ahead. Indeed, fatal car-to-car and car-to-pedestrian accidents did drop sharply as a result.
