Hi there, I found this forum today (when I should have been working) and wanted to join in. I have had a Mercedes for six months. It's my first and I love it! I drive 65 miles to work and 65 back (Bristol to Oxford) and each mile is always good. I get a fantastic 54mpg and I reckon there must be others around who are equally pleased with their cars. Mine is brill! My boot won't open but I have a year's warranty so I am going to have it fixed. Also, I don't know how to skip along in a track on the CD player without simply selecting the next/previous tune. My car had 34,000 miles on when I bought it, it now has 51,000. I am very fond of it. I am six feet four and it is totally roomy for my gangly frame. The car is a C220 cdi in silver with an auto box.

I suppose I am really after the assurance that my fine machine will comfortably exceed 100,000 miles and still be silky smooth and fine. My personal best from a tank of diesel is 624 miles on a run to Yorkshire and back last weekend (I helped opena new store for the company I work for). It performs best at 123kmph on cruise, which is 2500 revs on the nose. At that setting it is perfection itself.

I have a tiptronic gear box but have no idea why one would choose to use it!

I hope this first post doesn't break a million rules or stuff like that.

Cheers for reading this. I will try to post a piccie of VX52 (that's the registration)

Hello there. Well, I hope it does - it feels like it will and I just know that such as I am able, I will keep an M-B as my choice of brand! There's a lot of technical stuff posted on here too but it all seems quite pleasant and welcome overall. I read a post from some chap on a random page who had a VW before his Merc (as I did) and my VW passat had 150k on it when I chopped it in for my new car.

I drive my car pretty sensibly but it is cool once in a while just to give it some wellie!

Welcome to Benzworld!!

Great car you bought. The CDIs are almost bulletproof. I love them; great mileage, great low-end torque, plus the C-Class looks great too!!

Thank you - that's kind! I will keep on looking in - it's quite fun. Of all the great things about my car, I am amazed how immense the windscreen washer bottle is. It's like a camel - you give it a drink of water and it lasts for ages, and I like in rainly old England!
