Who cares what people think, I'd hope that no one here bought their car as a status symbol, if that's the case then you all bought your cars for yourselves. So enjoy the ride, and let the envious practice their envy.

The way I see it, none of these people give a shit if I go broke, but if I do well for myself, they hate me. Screw'em.

#1) Many folks give a rats behind whether their car is clean or maintained.
Folks in this forum, by and large, "enthusiasts", your coworker is not an
"enthusiast".

#2) Not rude at all. He is in a higher category in his life than his coworkers and
there is nothing wrong with that.

For me; I could give a rat's behind if someone gets their tires at Tire Rack or WalMart, if they get their Oil Change at Jiffy Lube or a Qualified place; if they
use Turtle Wax or Meguiars NXT, If they use Chevron Gas or Costco
I mean, in the big scheme of this life we have, who cares?

For folks who abuse their cars, boats, planes, toys, houses, themselves, there are repair mechanics out their who make their living off of that.
I am very ok with that.

Talking

This really shouldn't bother you. He may be very busy, or he may misread the social cues and unwritten responsibilities of owing a nice car. Then again he may actually be trying get a rise of someone. Move on and be happy that you have the time and sense to maintain your vehicle.

Interesting thread. I admit I sometimes feel self-conscious driving the car and my wife feels odd about driving it somewhere her coworkers might see it because she doesn't want them to think she is being paid a lot more than they are.

Sorry, IMO any kid who gets any new car for graduating HS is pretty spoiled. Cs especially are nothing to be rewarded. My scheme would be more like this:
A: used Subaru
B: new bicycle
C: bus pass
D: grounded

wow I was going to post something like this as soon as i figure out how to start a new thread. I myself am guilty of looking at all you rich donkeys and your benz's and thinking tfb or daddys car and now that im a owner myself, (I bought our wagon for 10,000 minus 1k for our 98 galant with a bad trans, and included a 100k waranty,) and joined this forum I have found that the members on this forum are some of the nicest people I have ever met. And I am in wisconsin where Germans reign and politeness is beaten into you by your parents and grandparents at a very young age, people pull over on the freeeway to see if you need help because your flashers are on ect... I was expecting to get an insite to some stock trades maybe a good place to buy in Naples or where to dock in ft lauderdale, but wow, you guys are a bunch of penny pinching tight wads! just like me. I've never had an experience like it with a total stanger responding almost immediately with an answer to a question from some dumb ass who doesnt know @#$% about his own car, it makes me pround to be part of that group of people.. Mercedes owners. Thanks to all of you that know what your doing and are helping the rest of us learn.

1. Maybe he just doesn't have time to wash it. he should get a chamois cloth. Those things will make your car look like new after a 2 minute wipe down...

2. What should he drive then? Why can't he drive his car?? I wish somebody would tell me I'm obnoxious for driving MY car.
