Question Why does my black Merc look dark blue?

I recently purchased a 1998 C240 and the manual says it is opal black or something (paint code 189) but in the light it looks dark blue. Is this normal? I want to buy touch up paint and am worried it has faded and the new paint will stand out even though it is the right code.

Opal black, is still generally black, with bluish hues.

Maybe the same reason people can't tell the color of my car. It's Azure Blue, but my first speeding ticket was listed as black, the ticket a few days ago had it listed as Green. In the evening it looks purple, in the morning it's charcol.

The option 189 is generally listed as 'Greenish Black', which is a very nice combination. It is one of their special combinations which should laquer-up very nicely.
