Opinions - Jack Stand location

Hi y'all. I am posting this on the General forum because I am thinking pretty much every model may have the same rubber mounts underneath. How safe is it to use jack stands on the four rubber mounts beneath and just behind/in front of the front/rear wheels? My 1998 E320 has a seperate location for the factory jack to be used to change a spare (it is located above the rubber mounts). I am worried about using standard jack stands with a "V" notch on the top (if they came with more of a cupped top that would be great). I am thinking that the car could rock on the rounded rubber mount using said stands. Perhaps I am just paranoid, and there is no safety issue, but I just want some opinions. I am planning on taking Texas-Patrick's advice on replacing my own engine mounts and will need to raise up the front of the car to gain better (and much needed) access.
Thanks all!

If you want to change the motor mounts your self, it is better to purchase two jacks stands. And place it up front. I think you'll need a third one to hold your engine up once you took off the mounths.

Get a set with wide tops and place them under the unibody "frame" area. I do this all the time and it is rock solid. The rubber gives a bit, I like it solid.
