Where CAN we find production numbers?

I, for example, am quite interested in the numbers for the 2002 CLK55 AMG. I know AMG made about 6500 cars total (worldwide) that year, and the US supposedly got about half of them... but that includes all models and beyond that, there is no detail.

I think I once found some info somewhere that about 800 CLK55 AMG's (coupe+cab) were imported to the US in 2002. Anyone knows how to verify that? Mine is a CLK55 AMG Cab, all black (the original model info from MB says it was "designo charcoal"), and I'm really curious to know how many were made, as I know it was a b*tch trying to find one.

MBUSA is very difficult to get info from on this type of info. Even the old cars. If I wanted to know how many Bornite 93 500E's as an example, they would not say since it is a "Marketing secret". I am sure it is useful 13 years later. It might be worth a second try at an approach since they are trying to clean their image but I would not hold my breath. I will check with the MBCA ombudsman and see if they can approach MBUSA and see where that goes. Should be interesting.

It would be awesome if there was a web site where you could type in your vin number and have all this info at your fingertips.

Any ideas????

Look at this discussion....http://www.benzworld.org/forums/w201...ight=geocities

It doesn't sort by vin number, rather by year and model.

Carfax... Nope. I did that when i bought the car. that info not there.

The link to the other site...It is in German. Best I could decipher was that it was a site devoted to the 190 series.

Thanks for the ideas tho.

if you want to decode your vin, search for "russia vin" on the site and you should get a link the russian mb club. they have a brilliant vin decoder, although you may have to slighty change your (american) vin so the site recognises it. this site will give you all the options specced on your car.
As for the previous post, ref an 85 240D being a rare car, im afraid not, in europe there was a few hundred thousand of this model made....its probably one of the least rare mercs, in europe anyway.

Just look at that car, don't it look great just sittin there?
