Yeah, I was about to say. The E were never made in the US. They're still made in Sindelfingen, and some of the 4Matics are built in Graz, Austria alongside the G-Wagen.

Cool There's rare and there's kind-of-rare

Hello, one.

Around here, in northern California, the really rare Benzes aren't on the roads much. I've seen one 300SL Gullwing, one 280SE 3.5 cabrio, and two 600 Series Pullmans in 20 years. Most M-Bs that are driven every day are the common models, even the old ones. There are a couple other 300CE cabrios in the San Francisco area that I see about once a year. The 1994 and 1995 E320 cabs drive by once in a blue moon, and they were made by the thousands.

Cheers!

Dave

There were 1504 500Es imported into the US between 1992 and 1994. These were built in the Porsche plant at Zuffenhausen where the 959 had been built previously. These cars looks like normal W124 sedans on steroids with 320hp engines and beefed suspension. While most all the panels are different, the most obvious are the flaired front fenders and wider wheels/tires.

I have two, a Pearl Gray which is the most common color and a Bornite which is a very uncommon color in the US.

Nice. I read about the 500E being jointly developed with Porsche. Is it as good as one might expect?

92% of all people suck at math. I am a part of the 9% who don't.

Current Cars:
2008 ML320 CDI 4MATIC (W164) - Silver/Black
2008 C230 4MATIC (W204) - White/Black

Past Cars:
2002 E320 (W210) - Silver/Black - Sold due to rust

It is very very quick, well balanced and civil. It is one of very few cars that I would say that you buy and just KEEP as opposed to trading or selling after a few years. I am doing a complete restoration on the Pearl Gray one and it is likely to actually become restomodded with some performance enhancements and a few other things that have come along in the years since these cars were designed 16 years ago. The Bornite one will stay very stock, however.

I would dare to say that W124E500 it is a kind of rare..it's not something you see everyday on the roads, like E320 or E230-i am talking about Europe but i think in US too.Anyway i think it is a magnificent car with enough power.I drove one a couple of years and i was excited..Enjoy them mcbear!

Where would one get that kind of information?

I have a 2000 SLK230 Copper Designo Sport w/ AMG ground effects.
(under right rear panel, AMG is stamped into the body? but it is not an AMG motor.)

I have been told 460 made and 173 shipped to USA.

Is there a way to verify all or any of this info?

Thanks,
