Well being an auto the 55 would be better suited for a Supercharger, but im not sure which would be faster though. My theory would be that if you had a supercharged version and a turbo'd version both running at the same psi, a supercharged would go better because the power is always available. The turbo kicks in from certain rpms right? Can anyone clarify?

Cons of the turbo is the lag on the auto.
Pros of supercharger, its like having NA, power is all there.

My understanding the supercharger, having much more power available can be set up much higher, than turbocharger.
Read the thread about drag racing, where supercharger draws more than 300 HP.
When it comes to comparing real vehicles, it all depends what engineers put in them. Just because they might, doesn't mean they did.

Having owned both a turbocharged and supercharged car I can offer a little light on this subject.

First off, it depends on what kind of supercharger. If its a centerfugial supercharger (Vortech, Procharger type), it still has to spool like a turbo. It also depends on what kind of turbocharger(s). If its a large single turbo, lag will be much greater than two smaller turbos. I have a twin turbo Nissan 350Z race car that reaches full boost at ~2300 rpms with two Garrett 530bb turbochargers.

If both cars were identical weight, model, and whp, one with a roots type blower, and one with a turbocharger, I would give it to the supercharger 9/10 times. The only time it would be even would be in a race where the turbo car starts out in full boost and never leaves full boost.

Makes no difference.

Of course the units have to be same capactiy to start with.

Theoretically, the turbocharger is driven with "free" energy, while the supercharger uses engine power to drive it, just like your alternator.

BIG problems with turbocharger heat, however.
