Will MB introduce FUEL-efficient cars in the futre...

MY 03 ml500 gets 14-17 M.P.G..

the E55 gets 12 M.P.G

comparitively I also own a honda vtech 1994 gets me 32-36 MPG

I love the power of the5 liter engines, but at below 10 mpg level its too extreme you shouldn't have to sacrifice fuel costs that much for performance...it would be good if MB could take more care to make more fuel efficient cars...does anybody know of any future models ? The diesel sounds like a good investment, but I have had no experience with diesels. but judgings from the EPA estimates of its latest cars I don't think they really care ..

For now, it's one or the other. You can't have the best of boths worlds, unless you spring for an W220 S600 which I believe uses 6 cylinders for city driving.

If you want power and good mileage, go for an MB diesel, do few engine/performance mods and you won't be disappointed.

The E320 cdi make 35 mpg. One member reported 42 mpg.
With 210 HP nobody complains about acceleration.
I do ... about the price.

Why would you use the E55 when you know it's a performance machine, not an econocar? In Europe there are Smart classes, the A class, the B, etc. In Manila I saw several of these, and they're pretty small. But consider too that most MB designs are heavy because of the equipment and safety features.
