Angry 2002 C320 6disc changer - Will it play burned CD's?

I have made two different burned CD's that work in other players but don't work at all in my 2002 C320 stock 6 disc changer... when I try to play it, it says "No CD"... does it have anything to do with the manufacturer of the CD-R, or will the player just not play any burned CD's?

And yes, I burned them correctly with .wav files not .mp3 files so that they work on normal CD players.

Please help, it goes against every principle in my body to pay money for a CD when I can just steal it off of the internet.

Dumb question, but did you use a CD-R or a CD-RW? I've noticed that rewritable CDs don't lend themselves well to use in CD players.

But do you know if a CD-R will work in the C320 6 disc changer? I don't remember which I used...

I have 2 MBs (01ML & 97SL) with 6 disk CD players and they play cd's that I copied (backed up) from an original CD. I don't see any reason why yours won't play, except for the diffrence in our source. I noticed in your post that you got yours of the internet.

I sugguest you copy an orignal CD into a good quality CD-r and see how it goes. - Good luck!

Actually the reference to ".wav" files may be the issue.

You need to have a .wav file format and then use commercial software (not drag and drop such as native XP, but nero, etc.) to burn a "music cd" which will recompile them into .cda format.

.cda tracks on a CDR will play just fine on virtually all regular old cd players, including those stashed in the trunks of MBZ products.

Take care and enjoy the ride,
Greg

I used Sonic! RecordNow and clicked to create a music CD, and I'm pretty sure it converted it to .cda files. Like I said though, the same CD's played fine in my other car, and every other car I have tried them in. The Benz plays my store bought CD's, but it won't play these. It's really pissing me off.

My 2003 W211 did play CR-R discs and there was a comment on an older one supporting CD-R discs. Even if this does not directly answer the question about our CD changer, sounds quite obvious that it should play CD-R discs. So far my conclusion at least is that you have used CD-RW discs which have a lot worse reflectivity and do not necessary play on your changer. Can you clarify this?
