Well the main dealers are expensive everywhere in the world. I have been to Spain recently from UK and I got a problem on my Beemer, it was a 323ci sport coupe. I had the car for years and always kept well. It was a pleasure to drive and worked fine but suddenly after 1000 miles it stopped. Didnt start engine.
Just like that on the highway it just stopped. I made ER signs and pulled down.
I was freaking out. No spanish speaking guy in Spain in the middle of the highway somewhere broke down.
Alright. I was investigating my problem, for a good 5 minutes and decided to sit back in the car as everything looked nice and clean :-)
Waited 30 min started the car again and it was okay.
I drove another 1000 miles in the next days. The car did it once more the same show.
30 min waiting and worked fine again.
Anyway I said @£$@ this time DEALER! No way I am risking my way back this again!
So I went in to a BMW dealer. Told them what happened to me twice.
(I was suspecting its a fuel injection problem) And it was.
They changed my fuel pump for 800 Euros.
The fuel pump for this car is 80 Euros on Ebay just to see the distance between the numbers!
So I drove back fine to London and my car was nicely cleaned for 800 Euros.
Which is about 1100 USD.
I tried not to think on this anymore which was impossible :-(
I could do this at home from 150 at the highest so the dealer is this much expensive.
However you can be sure the car will be fixed. If you have no knowledge about cars and no mechanic-uncle or friend then I recommend the dealer.
