These cars were designed to remove the oil that way but there is no law stating we can't use the older drain method. If you don't have access to a lift, vacuuming the oil is much easier and cleaner.

I did not know that.

I use plastic ramps, not a lift. I take my time, use quality products and am very happy with the results (and savings)

I know the job was done perfectly!

B/c that's the proper way and I don't have the space to lift the car and unscrew the bottom screw to release the oil.

Ramps tilt the car, trapping some oil in the pan. good enough, but not perfect.

For the $39 my vacuum tool I can change my oil the "proper" way and ensure that I don't risk unnecessary injury by getting under the vehicle. You barely have to get your hands dirty. It really is that easy.

wow you guys have expensive services, an A service around me costs about 180, and the B costs around 250, somewhere around that. I'm only at 23,500 miles for my 05.

B Service out the door for $180. I would say that's good.

depends on the vehicle/motor. On my E420, when I drain the pan on ramps, no "extra" oil left in the pan. Verified that by dropping the car down there was no more oil to come out.

Needed to get filters for my duramax silverado at the local Chevy Dealer.

If you think Mercedes has a "Lock" on high service prices, think again.

Chevy dealer had a "special" on 15K and 30K service for most GM cars. The equiv of an "A" service (15k) was on special for "ONLY" $350, B service (30K) equiv was "ONLY" $600.

Needless to say, the cost for my Duramax was even higher. Glad I do my own service!

For the most part those w/ experience say "don't bother." If anyone has a warranty that has paid off for them, I'd be interested in hearing about it...

The cost of the extended warranty on my CPO 2006 E350 was $1995. The car had about 37,000 miles on it when I bought it. At 62,000 miles, the 7-speed transmission failed without warning. I had stopped at a stop sign and when I drove off, it would not change out of first gear, not matter what I did. The warranty covered all repairs costs, including towing. I was also provided a new C-class to drive in the meantime. The repairs cost nearly three times the price of the warranty! Besides that issue, I had an A/C system failure, and a huge oil leak that ended up all over my garage floor. All repairs were covered, no questions asked. Of course, I now have zero confidence in the car, considering the problems thus far. On top of that, the new rebuilt transmission is now starting the slip changing from first to second. In addition, when I initially drive off in the mornings, or anytime the car has been sitting for a few hours, there is a sharp jolt/bump at about 3 to 5 mph, as if the transmission binds up for a second (I'd like to hear from anyone else experiencing this with the 7-speed tranny). I fear the transmission is about to go again. At this point, I am considering selling this car and restoring my 1982 W123.
