Unhappy HELP NEEDED: Error codes after installing Ebay headlights

Hi,

I bought a set of Eagle Eyes aftermarket projector headlights from Ebay and installed them on my 2002 W203. However, i'm getting errors on the computer screen saying my lower beam and parking lights are faulty. Has anyone experience this before? Is there a solution to this? Do I need to go to the dealer so they can reprogram my computer? Please HELP. Thanks a lot in advance.

wild ass guess:

you're plugging in halogen aftermarket into car previously halogen...so shouldn't
be a problem. yet it is. so i can only guess, for starters, that one of the pins
in the multi plug is askew and not making proper contact. see if you can dbl check
the pins on the lamp side and verify solid and stright alignment.

also, during installation, you should (have) just plugged them before ratcheting
down and powered up to verify function....city, low, high before installing. this
helps to check operation before you spend the time installing.

you didn't indicate if the lights (every bulb) were fully functioning

Hi Raymond,

Thanks a lot for the reply. Actually, i still have everything on the open. I just tested them like you said and found the errors. Oh, and yes, all the bulbs work. The only thing is the error. What I notice is only lowbeam ( projector bulb) and parking lights getting errors so I guess it has something to do with the projector not being reconziged by the computer. Please advise.

THANKS A LOT.

okay, try plugging in as thus...

plug LEFT = Eagle Eye projector
plug RIGHT = factory halogen

any error msg? all lights working?

now, swap out RIGHT and plug in EE/proj

any error msg? all lights working?

....now start over but reverse all of the above

what we're trying to do is attempt to isolate the symptoms.

your OEM were halogen, yes?

did you check the pins yet?

Hi Raymond,

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. Currently I have Left = Eagle Eyes and Right = factory halogen. The error message i'm getting is Left lower beam and parking light. And yes, all lights are working. Yeah, my OEM are Halogens. Let me go check the reverse and the pins. Will post back right away. Thanks again.

am getting ready to leave the house for work.....but i left out one thing:

with the above, be sure that you try both EE/proj headlights in the LEFT harness
to see if the error reads for both headlights, if so (and both are verified functioning)
then it may be something upstream of the headlights.

i hate story problems and i have to write them out in little simple pics on a sheet
of paper. hey, i was raised in the public skool system here in Seattle. so my
logic and problem solving skills may be a little below avg. :-)

Hi Raymond,

Weird, i plugged both aftermarket lights on and errors went away. I guess i was supposed to do that not just testing one light. Anyway, thanks a lot for your help and time.

ha!...would that it be all our automotive problems were so easily resolved. glad it
worked out. it didn't sound major....so i figured it was just a matter of time and
mix and mathing of steps before we figured it out.
