Rolling Park

I was wondering if any one has had the problem of your Benz rolling forward excessively (well, I think anyway) when putting the car in park on a slight grade. Is there an adjustment that can be made?

Hi, Outrider.

I live in a pretty hilly area and my 210 doesn't seem to roll more appreciably than any other car I've owned.

Automatic*transmissions have a pawl and locking dog arrangement such that the drum has to turn sufficiently to engage it. Sometimes it may be a further turn until it engages, other times not so much. So long as it does in fact engage it you should have no problems.

FWIW, I'm pretty sure that every car*manufacturer recommends that you not simply put an AT in Park when on an incline and let the pawl take all of the load. Rather, you should fully apply the parking*brake and let the brakes take up the load, and then shift to park.

Take care and enjoy parking* the ride,
