Question Loss of...electrical (asking again)

Sorry, but the 208 forum hasn't given any ideas. So, here's the problem:

99 CLK430

I will park the car, turn off the ignition and I lose all electrical power. Everything... sometimes it happens immediately, other times it waits until I start walking away (and the alarm goes off???). Whenever it happens, it usually just takes slamming the car door closed to get the power back (the sudden jolt seems to do it).

This happens about 3 times a week.

Rarely, I'll be driving and the dash will seem to flash and the BAS light comes on... the same as when the power is restored when it happens while parked. I've never actually lost power though while driving. Just a flash.

The only thing that's changed is:

Factory alarm upgraded with shock sensor.

Aftermarket stereo - however, all connections are very secure and this wouldn't explain the glitch while driving.

Replaced Crankshaft Position Sensor - It actually started happening after this, but I don't see how it could really be a cause?

Any... ANY ideas would really be appreciated. My biggest grip about this is the 5 minutes it takes to reset my stereo security and settings.

Why not go to a Merc dealer and get them to check it over? Make sure you tell them the changes you have made from standard. Good luck. Hope you find it soon. Odd one!

I hesitate to mention this because it's so obvious, but have you cleaned and tightened the battery cables?

It seem that there is a loose battery (or fuse) connection somewhere in your car. Check the front (driver side fuse box, engine compartment) & rear ( lift the liner, it's on the right side of the trunk), also ,be sure the battery post are all tight. If everything are good, head to your dealer is the last thing to do. I had my car's recall for the harmonic balancer , at the dealer after they replaced the harmonic balancer, then the car would not start, it point to crank shaft position sensor is bad, they replaced it too (cost me $550.00),I do not have the choice, because the car is in their shop , but after I got the car there is NO PROBLEMS ever since (10M miles) .Regards.

Well... I have checked the battery cable and it's tight. I replaced the positive terminal when I repaced the stereo (it now has 2 leads off of it with an inline 120 Amp fuse). I thought it may be an issue with the battery, but then again... shouldn't you be able to remove the battery cable once the car is running (because, at that point, it's running from the alt.)? That wouldn't explain the rare glitch while I'm driving.

I can't go to the dealer because it can't be replicated on demand. I'll check the fuse, but because of when it started, I'm really wondering if there's something more to the CPS? I don't know enough about this component to know if it could be faulty.

Some alarms go off when there is a voltage drop. Can you remove the shock sensor? I would also have the alternator checked. Sounds like a real pain. You might want to get a good indy garage and have them track down your problem.
