Some won't like this but here it goes, the truth.
The ML has been tattered with problems up until about middle '03 and up. My ML has had over 27 warranty repairs and most for ELECTRONIC parts that are made by BOSCH, a German manufacturer which means these will be cross platform troubles (MAF sensors, Crank Position Sensors, EGR valves, power window switches) and lets not forget the notorious sun roofs and sky jam roofs! The fit and finish of my ML is lacking which some could be traced to build quality. The harmonic balancer failure will occur with any 320 or 430 model, regardless of the country of build.
The fact is, the U.S. plant was the ONLY profitable factory in the whole MB division in 2005 and likely will be the case this year. MB has already admitted that the S-Class wiring harness woes have cost them $52 million in warranty repairs, not considering what this has cost the customer. They just don't build them like they used to.

What does the US have to do with it? The Camry is one of the most reliable cars in the US and its built here. The US needs to have jobs too, we are one of the biggest world markets and we have to have jobs here for the people to buy the products. There are plants here because its cheaper to ship the parts instead of the whole car and assemble it here. many auto manufactures do it this way. dont think we are slow and lazy people here and that effects quality. dont believe what you may see on TV...we are proud of the products we produce

Mod list:Carlssons front bumper, custom angel eye fogs, headlight rings, #1 pads, Eibach springs, Inmotion ECU tuning, chrome wheels, Illuminated door sills, in dash DVD and backup camera, complete audio system, AMG pedals, LED lights, Blk maple and chrome shift knob, blk maple center cover and door pulls, Zaino, H&R 10mm spacers, K&N filters, Magnaflow exhaust

What you say about the early ML's is true...cost cutting and building to a price point instituted by Schremp as CEO of MB. However, the tide has changed and the new ML's, GL's and R's are solid, well made quality MB automobiles made in the USA.

The new S Class is an example of "building them like they used to." A fantastic car and the quality is as good as it gets....as will be the CL and the SLK and CLK.

Mercedes builds a lot of its cars in Thailand. The company has a large factory in Bangkok.

And I am really pleased with the service I get from my Bangkok dealer. It picks up and delivers our cars to our home after any service.
