I also am an anti- BMW guy, and i think its funny how bmw tried to be better and fater than ben, but it never happes, such as their M3 in my car and driver, the E65 i think it was, the benz wasted it! but yeah the battle goes on im sure
I remember that article. No, it was the E60 M5 vs. the Mercedes E55 vs. the Cadillac CTS-V I think...
If you actually read the article lol, the M5 was the drivers choice of the three because it was most responsive and drove the best in corners, but straightline performance was the same.
The only reason they put the E55 first was because it was more practical, and actually is more plush than the M5. And since it was the battle of super saloons, being saloons, they had to be practical, which was something the M5 was just shy of (for example the ride was too firm, and the SMG flappy paddle gearbox was jerky when in city use)
The E60 M5 is alot better in terms of high performance driving than the W211 E55 because the M5 has more driver involvement (because the M5 has an auto clutch maunal gearbox where as the E55 has a heavy automatic and the E55 is forced induction, which I think is cheating where as the M5 is naturally aspirated).
And yes, the E46 M3 will out perform the C55 AMG that the M3 competes with.
