My salesan told me that one of the MB mottos was something like - We build cars that will attain speeds in excess of 100mph, and will protect you when/if you crash them.

With all due respect, I found that lots of CLK owners don't even know their cars based on the C class (and cheaper to build).

Please, re-read my post. I said the W208 is based on the W210, and went ahead to specify the “front suspension”. Nowhere in my post do you see anything about the E and CLK using the same "chassis". The E, CLK, and C each has it’s own unique "chassis". The 1993 through 2000 W202 uses a 202.022 and 202.028, the 1996-2002 W210 E uses a 210.065, 210.070, 210.074, 210.082, and 210.083, and a 1997-2002 W208 CLK has a 208.xx chassis number.

If you are unclear as to why I would post the W208 "suspension system" is based on the W210, perhaps this will make things clearer: Compare the "front suspension system" of the W208 to the W210. In comparing a 2002 E430 and a 2002 CLK430, if you look at the front brake discs, which I believe to be part number 2104212212, both cars use the same part. In looking at the ball joints, which I believe to be part number 2103300035, both cars use the same part. Looking at the lower control arm that the ball joint bolts to, which I believe to be part number 2103308707, you’ll note again that both the W208 CLK and the W210 E use the exact same part. This scenario repeats itself throughout the front "suspension system". Nowhere in the front "suspension" of the W208 have I found a 202xx part number. If you know of a front "suspension" part on a W208 that begins with a 202 part number, please post it. Please don't use a wheel lug (with a 2014010270 part number) as an example. That part, and the 203xx wheel lug are used throughout the Mercedes Benz line - including the SL, which no one will accuse of using a W202 chassis.

In your defense, a "chassis" is made up of both the suspension system AND the steering system. The W208 "steering system" is based on the W202. However, no where in my previous post do you see the word "steering".

I see what you are saying but on my first post, I only said "chassis", not parts. What I am saying is the CLK looks like the E class but it is a C-class, not an E-class.

The CLS chassis is based on the E chassis (current models) but you won't find the same numbers on the suspension/chassis either. Same thing applies for CL and S classes.
