No.

The 1 series is a small hatch back, just like the A-class is

The 6 is too big and too expensive compared to the CLK

the X5 was compared to the ML, but I think the GL now and the X3 runs closer price wise...that's the one I know I'm unsure about.

The Old Z8, how can that be compared when the Z8 is much more expensive and much more exclusive than the SL, the Z8 was limited production where as the SL is full-time production.

BMW doesn't have a competitor for the GL yet. The GL is a full-sized SUV. The X5 and the ML compete, and well, I don't think MB has a mini-SUV that competes with the X3.

I'm in the Philippines right now and I see lots of B classes and 1 series BMWs. The A classes are too small to compete with the 1, they're the likes of the Honda Fit, Hyundai Getz/Matrix, etc.

Ever notice that each series of the BMW corresponds to:

Odd number: 4 door (1, 3, 5, 7)
Even number: 2 door (6, 8)

Are you saying that the 6 is the coupe of the 3? While the 8 is the coupe of the 5? I think that the 6 is the coupe of the 5, while the 3 has its own coupe. The 8 is the coupe of the 7. Look at the new M5 and M6, they look so much similar. Very different from the 3.

The X3 is like the compact SUV of BMW, it has 4 doors too. The X5 is like the midsize SUV, which competes with the ML. If BMW made an X7, then that would compete with the GL.

The CLK is based on an E class chassis. Don't let the headlights fool you.

Dude, I'm not that stupid lol...

That's not true about the corresponding numbers., there is a 3 coupe.

No I wasn't saying the 6 is the coupe of the three. I'm not that stupid.

The 8 was not the coupe of the 5, it was the coupe of the 7. Not that stupid again.

The M5 and M6 look nothing alike.

And BMW is coming out with an X7.

Also, the BMW 1-Series does compete with the A-class, along with the VW Golf. the Hyundais are way out of the price range of the BMW so it doesn't make sense.

I'm just really struggling on why this is so hard to comprehend.

I didn't claim you're stupid.

That's why I said "I thought..." because I was not stating any fact nor arguing about anything.

It just happens that I read in an old magazine that the CLK was based on the E class (as the successor of the 124 cabriolet/coupe), and it was road tested against a Maserati and the new 6.

You may have a point with the A and the 1-series, but again, I read in a local magazine that the new 1-series competes with the B class here.

I know, I was beginning to act like a jerk. My bad.

ANyways, Maybe the CLK55 versed the Maserati and the new 6, seems like the only probable and sensible. comparison

The forthcoming coupe based on the new 3 will be the 4 series BtW.
BMW X7? Oh my God, another monstrous big ugly SUV on our roads.....

The laws of physics just don't allow for such a heavy and big car to perform like a super car, just like they've gotten the smaller E60 5-Series to do.

CLK was NEVER based on E chassis. CLK is a C-chassis class. It takes less money to build (compare to a C class) and costs $10K more. MB probably makes most profits (ratio) from CLK.

No, the new 3-Series coupe, also known as the 328i and the 335i is known as the E92.

The 4 series will be the convertible.
