1995 S500 Coupe Any Good?

Hi all this is my first post to this forum so if it is in the wrong place feel free to delete it or tow it.

I am looking at buying a 1995 MB S500 coupe for a little under $19k with 71.5K miles. It is in beautiful condition. I do not know a lot about this particular Merc so I am wondering if it will give me a lot of trouble. I know they were very expensive new so would they be a lot to fix? What should I look for when buying one? Should I worry about things breaking or is it a pretty solid car? I have had a BMW 840ci in the past and I know mine was very expensive to fix and was slightly problem-matic.

Let me know what you guys think,

I think it would take an adminstrator to tow this somewhere else, or delete it, but I doubt that either will happen - we were all new to this forum once.

You'll get replies here, and it's a great place to start. However, I think you might get quicker answers if you post on the W140 S-Class forum below.

Everything I've read on here has been pretty complimentary about the W140 series. Like you, I'm interested in the S-Class full-sized coupes - they seem much more practical/safer than the roadsters, but you still have the 2 doors.

In general, if you buy a used Mercedes I'd be prepared to spend more money on it. Will it be expensive? - that depends on what goes wrong - maybe nothing much for a couple of years. If you're unlucky like I was with my 1st one, you'll quickly have more money in it than it is worth for resale.

Lastly, just a guess and purely based on your description, I think $19,000 is a fair price for that Benz.

Good luck and welcome to the forum,
