Did MB ever make a handbuilt car

I'm curious if MB made a recent handbuilt car in the last 30 years or for that matter even fully hand assembled?

Yea I bet the first one was. I think the AMG engines are the only thing that come out of MB that is hand built. The SLR would be my only guess.

Some of the Maybach is hand built. I wouldn't be surprised if the whole were hand built.

if I'm not mistaken....the G-Class is hand assembled.

I am also tempted to say the same about the Maybach and SLR...but not certain.

Yes, absolutely! I don't know the model year when this was changed, but MBs were hand assembled before Daimler went to the robotic assembly methodology.

As I just commented regarding the SLR - if these are NOT hand assembled, would they be worth that kind of money? BTW, do you have any idea what the base price is, and how much they cost loaded?
