I wish mine was more reliable. I can't really think of much that I would change the lack of cup holders would be the only thing I can think of.

It has been said, that old Mercedes were over engineered. A bit like wearing your pants with two belts and till adding suspenders. If you missed it, there is a thread here called Old Benz. It has the link to a four part video by fifth gear, in which a Mercedes is being abused to the max. Cheerio.

Not so much "overengineered" as ....

...well designed.on my 300SEL 6.3 I have an idea about swapping the "king pin" front end for something with ball joints and where I can adapt a powersteering rack.
I'm in Australia and here one of the favorite things is a Mitsubishi L300 van front end. It's designed to cope with loads heavier than the 6.3 powered 300SEL and theres a variety of big discs on various different models.
You can also buy adapters here to fit even larger Ford or GM discs, the Ford parts are more acceptable because it's the same stud pattern as mercedes.
It's even approved by our government.. essential if you are going to get the car registered.
Heres a link to the Australian Governements guidelines on the conversion. have a look at page 5.

I have even been thinking about installing Firestone airbags and solenoids to improve the already great mercdes Air bag suspension.

mercmad6.3, have you checked with the international M 100 group. They have only old 600's, 6.9's and your car. You might find the info you need. http://www.m-100.cc/

Larger brake calipers and rotors on my W123's and W116's.Hate the fade when going down the curvy mountain roads here.

Definately cupholder. There is nothing cooler than hitting the button and watching the thing rise and then flip outward, but I'm buying a new one every year because the mechanism just wears out too fast.

Something like Airmatic. The suspension on the ML is a little harsh.
