MBZ Roadside Assistance is Aweful
Last night my "old" 300SL broke down on my way home from work, around 8:30PM, in a rather dangerous part of San Francisco. The little connector "spout" that is attached to the radiator that holds the radiator hose on the radiator broke off so I lost much of my coolant. It was impossible to get the hose to stay back on so my car was undriveable.
I telephoned MBZ Roadside Assistance and after waiting on hold for 25 minutes the MBZ phone system disconnected me. I telephoned back a second time, and again after 25 minutes on hold I was disconnected again. At this point my cell phone was running out of battery life, so I attempted to telephone again and then my battery died after about 15 minutes. I never was able to get in touch with the "24 Hour Roadside Assistance". FYI -- the telephone system at MBZ automatically disconnects telephone calls on hold after 25 minutes.
In the meantime while on hold, I was approached by two individuals who wanted to help me and fix the car but when I said that I had called for help, they "held me up" -- took my $$ and wallet. After they left a man came out of a building who was watching from upstairs and invited me in and let me use his phone and loaned me some $$. I then telephoned AAA and they answered the phone after a few minutes and sent a tow truck for me.
MBZ should be ashamed at the quality of their "24 Hour Roadside Assistance Program.
Best to all,
