S550 trunk lock

Has anyone figured out why mercedes benz engineers decided that S550 owners don't need to lock the trunk with the valet key??

Maybe because the purpose of having valet key is to keep trunk and glove compartment secure?
That got scrambled in the age of electronics. In my wagon I don't normally use blades. My ignition key is just square end of the key with chip in it. I have removable blades attached to both keys, where one has build-in remote, when other doesn't. The blade opens only driver door and glove compartment.
Normally I would consider the non-remote key a valet key, but in reality I have to give the valet the remote/ignition key combination, when take the blade with me after locking the glove compartment.
