According to the article MB decided to downgrade the 6.3 AMG V8 from its possible 510 hp down to 400-420 hp in the C-class. I was kinda hoping for the best ("give the little C-class all it can have from this engine" scenario), but I guess this is as good as it gets until Kleemann/Brabus/Lorinser step in.

It is nice to see that technology is improving remarkably. But don’t you guys think 63 is way too big? I don’t know why auto makers keep trying to inflate their engines. The street is already too crowd to go over 55 mph, anyway.

I think 63 AMG might be too big for a C-Class, but not for something heavier (E or S of course). Heck, I think Brabus, Kleeman and the like, will give you as much HP and displacement as your pocketbook can stand.
A neighbor has a CLK55 AMG, that has since evolved into a CL55 (I think). He says it is a real screamer, and I'd love to drive one. I'm waiting to see the reviews of the pending E63 AMG in particular.
It IS funny how so many muscle cars are being made with the gas prices as they are, and the comparatively low speed limits here in the USA.

I think "snobism" is more appropriate word here.
I passed them all while driving 90 HP VW wagon.
Porsche, Brabus, Ferrari, Mustangs.
They don't make big impression getting smaller in rear-view mirror
Even driving at 100 MPH on CA freeways require good seat belts, to avoid dents in the roof. Those cars can be really used on autobahns and race tracks.
