Mechanic NoVA ?

Okay, we give up. The SRS is on in our ML320. The car is due for inspection this month so it has to be repaired. I was wondering if anyone knows of a good shop in the Northern Virginia/ Prince William County area. My husband usually does all of our auto repairs but this one has him stumped. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Many might have disagreed with me but I'd take to the dealer. I know they charge higher than indy shops but you have a good peace of mind (unless you know for sure a good indy shop).

I took my car to Don Pool to reduce the charge for my top convertible. After charging me $1100, they didn't fix a thing. They were trying to make excuses about me not knowing how to operate a convertible button (!) and blah blah ...

So either [fix] myself or the dealers for now. Good luck finding a good indy. I've searched for 3 years now but couldn't find a good mercedes mechanic/shop in the area.

I will most likely take it to the dealer. I haven't had very good luck with HBL. Everytime I take it in they break something else. Not to mention that I paid $400 to install the wiring (not the hitch) for a trailer hitch because if we had installed it, they would have voided the warranty. When we went to hook up the lights it didn't work and my husband had to redo it. American Service Center in Arlington is a pain to get to from Centreville, with the HOV restrictions. I guess we will just have to deal. Thanks though!

Actually ASC techs suck too! For many years working with them, they'd never fixed any once! Everything needs to be fixed at least twice. Still, if I had to choose between a dealer and an independent shop, I'd still go the dealer. At least they give you a ride and not lying about the mileage as they record it in the paper when you bring your car in. Don Pool drove my car for 20 miles the first time and 30 miles the second time (for the same problem) and they put 4 miles on the paper! Few miles don't matter to me but it tell who they are!

I will call MB Motors on Monday. Thanks! As for ASC we have only had it there once...to get recalls done. I had an appointment and it was supposed to take one day...ended up being there four days! But atleast they didn't break something else!

I wouldn't recomend Don Pool in Falls Church. I took my 420SEL there last month and asked for a quote for installing a new steering wheel. They acted like they would be doing me a favor for the low price of $200! I checked here for directions and did it myself in 15 minutes. I also asked how much they would charge for reading the fault codes on my SL600. Again another $200! Turns out the idiot lights were coming on because of a loose fuse which I figured out on my own. As people become more knowledgable with help from forums like this, I think shops like Don Pool will start hurting and it serves them right!

Don Pool, NOOOOOOOOOOOO. Never. Mb Motors is straight up. ALso THe MBParts shop right next door is the best price one in the area. Those two shops work together but independently owned. I will trust them 100%. My 190E has been there many times and they fix the problem one time!

Yes, Benztech is a good guy. He worked on mine and pretty happy with it. I'd recommend him.
